1978年 兵庫県生まれ。
2001年 武蔵野美術大学彫刻学科卒業。
神戸とカリフォルニアを拠点に制作。国境を越えた先で、異なる境界のあいだを生きる人々と出会った。その姿は、静かに自分自身の輪郭を映し返す。移動のなかで出会った風景、人々、記憶、時間の断片は、輪郭をほどきながら重なり続ける。その痕跡を描く、幾重にも重なるレイヤーとして（伊藤麻衣子）。

The solo exhibition “Origem” by artist Rio-Roberta Lima at the Tor Road Gallery marks the first public showcase of works produced in Finland and the Brazilian Amazon between 2023 and 2025.
Utilising the gallery’s unique verticality, unframed paintings will be installed within the staircase opening, suspended against natural light to create an immersive experience that evokes the feeling of being deep within the woods.
These paintings are central to the exhibition, intertwining Amazonian and Nordic cosmologies to create a visual dialogue between distinct geographical and spiritual landscapes.
In addition to the canvas works, the exhibition features natural, organic elements collected locally in Kobe, alongside smaller works of ink on paper, video pieces, and photographs. Through these moving images and mixed-media installations, the lush, shadowed depths of the rainforest are juxtaposed with the stark, transformative light of the North, creating a space where the artist’s identity flows freely between two worlds.
This project marks the artist’s second engagement in Japan. Building on previous performances at Kyoto Experiment in 2018, this new body of work expands a Finland-based practice into the realm of painting, offering a distinct perspective on the migrant experience. Through this artistic evolution, the exhibition continues to explore themes of resilience, adaptation, and the endurance of culture within changing environments.

リオ‐ロベルタ・リマ個展「Origem」をトアロード画廊に於いて開催いたします。2023年から2025年にかけて、フィンランドとブラジルのアマゾン地域で制作した作品であり、初めての一般公開です。
トアロード画廊は、大正時代末期に建てられた松尾ビルの、その主階段をギャラリーとして用いています*。特有の垂直空間を活かしながら、ドローイングそのものを吊り下げてゆきます。それらの作品は自然光に照らされ、森の奥深くにいるような感覚を呼び起こすことでしょう。没入型の体験ができるような空間を作り出します。
*1925年築、有形文化財（センテンス及びアステリスクは翻訳者補足）。
本展の核となるそれらのドローイングは、アマゾンの世界観と、北欧の世界観を織り交ぜるものであり、地理的にも精神的にも異なる風景同士の、視覚的な対話を生み出します。
キャンバス作品に加え、神戸で現地採集した自然の有機的な要素、紙に墨で描く小品、映像作品、写真も展示します。それら動画像やミクストメディアによるインスタレーションにより、熱帯雨林の緑豊かで影の深い奥地と、北の厳しくも変容をもたらす光とを対比させ、アーティストのアイデンティティが、二つの世界の間を自由に往来する様子を表現します。
リオ‐ロベルタ・リマの本プロジェクトは、日本での2度目の活動となります。「京都エクスペリメント」（2018年）で行ったパフォーマンスを踏まえた、その後のフィンランドを拠点とする制作は絵画の領域へと広がりました。これら新作シリーズは、移民の体験に基づく、独自の視点を提示しています。表現の移ろいの中で探求するものは、変化し続ける環境におけるレジリエンス（回復力）、適応、そして文化の持続性です。
